To celebrate, the race is offering special two-day opening pricing for the 5K and 10K—guaranteed to be the lowest of the season.

“As one of Pittsburgh’s most cherished running traditions, the Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race and the Dollar Bank Junior Great Race continue to bring the community together through movement and celebration,” said Race Director Brian Katze. “This year is extra special as we mark 30 years of the Dollar Bank Junior Great Race, which has introduced generations of young runners to the joy of racing. We invite families and runners of all ages to join us for this incredible weekend.”

More than 10,000 participants are expected to cross the finish line in Downtown Pittsburgh during this year’s One Great Weekend, scheduled for September 27-28, 2025. The event has become a beloved tradition, drawing participants from more than 30 states and several countries each year.

Boswell, senior vice president of community affairs, Highmark Health. "This race embodies the spirit of community health and wellness, values we champion through our Highmark Bright Blue Futures program, empowering Pittsburgh residents to live healthier lives."

One Great Weekend offers something for the entire family. The Dollar Bank Junior Great Race, taking place on Saturday, September 27, features the Family Fun Run, Tot Trot, and Diaper Dash. On Sunday, September 28, runners will take on the 10K and 5K through the streets of Pittsburgh.

"Dollar Bank's commitment to the Pittsburgh community is deeply rooted, and our sponsorship of the Junior Great Race for its 30th year is a testament to that," stated Jim McQuade, Dollar Bank President and CEO. "The energy and spirit of Great Race weekend is truly special. It’s truly rewarding to see generations of young runners create lasting memories at the starting line, many of whom now share that experience with their own families. Our thanks go to the City of Pittsburgh and all the partners who make this tradition possible. We can’t wait to see everyone come together once again for another unforgettable race!"
