More than 16,000 participants expected for One Great Weekend, scheduled for Sept. 26-27; Pittsburgh’s largest fall race has become a beloved tradition for local runners
PITTSBURGH, PA (January 23, 2020) – Online registration is now open for the 43rd annual
Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and 25th annual
Dollar Bank Junior Great Race. The One Great Weekend, scheduled for Sept. 26-27, is expected to attract more than 16,000 participants.
“Pittsburgh’s largest fall race has become a beloved tradition for local runners and also inspires many new runners to run their first 5K or 10K each year,” said
Brian Katze, race director. “Offering a 10K, 5K, One Mile Family Fun Run, Tot Trot and Diaper Dash, the Great Race and Junior Great Race have become a ‘can’t miss’ race weekend for the whole family.”
Online registration for the Great Race will open at 9:00 a.m. on Jan. 23 with the guaranteed lowest price of $20 for the first 500 registrants. Once 500 spots in the 5K and 10K have filled, the price will then increase to $25. Registration for the Junior Great Race will open and remain at $10 throughout the registration period.
Proceeds from the popular fall fitness classic will continue to support amyloidosis research and advocacy. Each year, the Great Race donates $1 from every Great Race and Junior Great Race registration to the
Richard S. Caliguiri Amyloidosis Fund, a fund held by the
Pittsburgh Foundation that is dedicated to supporting medical research.
For the fourth year in a row, the City of Pittsburgh will partner with
P3R, the engine behind Pittsburgh’s greatest races including the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, to produce the 2020 weekend of events.
